ARM's First CPU Design Center in Asia Opens in Taiwan

Semiconductor intellectual property supplier ARM opened its first CPU design center on September 22 in the Hsinchu Science Park in Taiwan after around one year of planning and recruiting, reported Economic Daily News on September 23. This new design center will focus on Cortex-M next-generation embedded applications, helping Taiwanese vendors tap into the new opportunities of wearables, industry 4.0, robots, and IoT (Internet of Things). The center initially has 43 R&D employees and is expected to expand to 100 by the end of this year. Asia has become AMR's largest market, accounting for 50.3% of the company's total revenue, said the company.
